Coming into this "Battle of the Brothers" matchup these two teams found themselves on very different trajectories.

The Racers started out 3-0 and as one of the odds-on favorites to fight for a championship. Ever since, they have dropped their last two games with neither being particularly close. Now sitting at 3-2, they needed to make some serious adjustments to get back on track or risk falling back down to .500.

The Fremennik though have found themselves in a much more fortuitous position, currently sitting at 4-1 and ranked #2 overall in the current standings. Owner-Operator of the Exiles, Brennan Kurdys, has built a resilient roster this year that continues to see strong production from some of the biggest names in fantasy football.

Before Sunday kickoff, the Racers were in a bit of a hole, on paper. They were the projected underdog with only a 40% chance to win, and outclassed by over 10 points in the weekly projections. I wish I could be like Han Solo and just decide not to hear about the odds, but as a man of statistics this ate away at my soul like a Styrofoam cup in acetone.

The Exiles were well positioned to take yet another victory this week as the Racers were dealing with injuries and byes (yet again), and the Fremennik had all of their core players available. As the elder Kurdys in this situation, AJ needed to make something happen on his roster and get a little lucky as well.

As the Sunday games developed, it became abundantly clear that the Exiles had a bit of a Week 6 hangover. Josh Allen and both their running backs failed to eclipse the 20 point mark, and they had three others all fail to even get more than ten. This was the last thing they needed, as the Racers were looking for any little advantage they could find in this one.

As has been the recurring theme this year, the game came down to Monday night with the Racers actually now the 60-40 favorite thanks to big time running back performances from James Cook and Chuba Hubbard. Now, it all came down to which Commanders receiver he wanted to start.

Diggs or McLaurin, that was the question... All season AJ has had to figure out which gets the start and which gets sat. Diggs had been sitting questionable all week, but Terry struggles to find the endzone. Ultimately, the Racers went with McLaurin and just like that their fate was written.

Terry started out well and Purdy was as reliable as ever. However, in the second quarter Terry McLaurin suffered what might be a season-ending injury and left the game with only 3.7 points. Diggs on the other hand cashed in and put up a cool 16.4.

This one decision cost the Racers the game, the week, and their dignity. The Exiles escaped with their 5th win of the season, and the Racers are now just hoping to stay in the playoff picture.
