Five weeks into the season, Brandon Smith and the Naberhood Watch have kept themselves firmly in the hunt for the league's top spots. Their roster has proven resilient time and again, and ownership continues to find production on the wire while other owners miss the same value.
With Kenneth Walker on a bye this week the engine that makes this team go was unavailable. Thankfully, they were able to recreate him in the aggregate Moneyball-style and put up a strong week regardless.
Emanuel Wilson and Braelon Allen were two late-week pickups by Smith, and both paid dividends. Combining for over 30 points, the pair held the line in the FLEX spots and helped keep the Watch rolling without its usual workhorse.
Puka's final contribution remains up in the air at the time of writing, but it may not matter. Joe Burrow remembering he's good at football was a HUGE late adjustment by ownership after Tyler Shough's putrid outing against the Vikings. Sometimes the best move is simply remembering you have a better quarterback sitting around.
While everything was going swimmingly for one owner, the other side of this matchup was anything but...
Edgeville, much like the Racers, spent Week 5 watching its lineup get picked apart by injuries and bye weeks. Unfortunately, as discussed in prior weeks, the Nut Eaters haven't exactly the depth to weather that kind of storm, and this week exposed the problem in a hurry.
Aside from a surprisingly fantastic week from Drake Maye (39.5pts), the rest of this team struggled heavily with almost everyone failing to surpass 12 points. King Henry always comes through though - what a guy.
In the end, the Naberhood was just too much this week and the outcome was never up for debate. The Watch will assuredly find themselves sitting at an impressive 4-1 and another bye week hampered opponent in Week 6.
Edgeville, meanwhile, drops to 1-4 and gets a shot at redemption against Team Pain next week. Two struggling squads, one win up for grabs. At this point, we're less interested in who rises to the occasion than in finding out who can out-bum the other.
