As a man of statistics, there's one force I know comes for us all eventually: good old-fashioned regression to the mean. Maybe your mean is still a little higher than everyone else's, but even the best eventually come back down to earth.
Scott Baker, owner of Love and Fantasy Football, has been The League's winningest owner since joining during the 2023 expansion year. With the highest win percentage, most wins, and highest scoring average, Scott has spent years eating the rest of us for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The Love for Fantasy Football started slow this year losing their first two games, and only posting 75 points in Week 2. This appeared to be their stint of mean reversion at first, but time would show that Baker had us all fooled.
Now riding a two-game winning streak into Week 5, Scott got a favorable draw against another middle-class program: the Egyptian Suns.
The Suns' prospects weren't looking great. Caleb Williams remained unavailable with his life-threatening hamstring injury, while the Chiefs' bye took away both their replacement option in Patrick Mahomes and starting receiver Rashee Rice.
The Suns tried to give some resistance behind team cornerstone Brock Bowers and Amon-Ra St. Brown, but Dallas' defense and their waiver wire heroes in the FLEX just could not get it done.
Baker, meanwhile, saw an opportunity to climb back above .500 and started making moves. An Einstein-level read landed Jacoby Brissett (26.3 points) on a one-week contract just in time for a date with the Lions' point-factory defense.
Pair that manager prowess with Malik Nabers returning to form and Mike Evans delivering an all-time disrespectful performance, and you've got yourself 146 points and a Week 5 win.
Scott has weaseled his way back to 3-2 and is solidly in the playoff picture for the first time this season. If this team can stay healthy they might just capture their fourth straight playoff berth and continue the post season streak.
The Suns will be left looking into the club as the rest of the League's elite party for the week. They'll have their hands full in Week 6 against the Naberhood Watch who are quickly making a case to be the top team in the league.
